50TH REUNION UPDATE FOR CBA, HOLY NAMES AND VI

Updated: July 11, 2009

POWER POINT PRESENTATION CBA, HOLY NAMES, AND VI

This year's joint reunion committee would like to create a power point presentation consisting of pictures from our High School days to be presented at the reunion banquet on Saturday night of our reunion weekend in October. If you have any pictures you could share with us, we'd appreciate receiving them either through the mail or via email. Pictures received through the mail would be immediately scanned and sent back to their owners. We're looking for pictures of athletic events, proms, concerts, daily school life, after-school life, etc All pictures sent through the mail should have the name and address of the owner on the reverse side, along with the names of the people in the pictures. If anyone has real expertise in power point presentations, we welcome your participation in putting this together, or your advice based on something you have done in the past with computer presentations. We think this will be a great addition to the reunion banquet. PICTURES MUST BE RECEIVED BY AUGUST 1, or before.

Please e-mail materials to Judy Glock DePasquale at jmd11@fontiernet.net, or mail them to Judy at PO Box 281, Newcomb, NY 12852. For further information, you can also call Judy at 518-582-2115.

COLOR IMAGE OF VINCENTIAN INSTITUTE AT THE CORNER OF MADISON AVENUE AND ONTARIO STREET

We hope you noticed the black and white depiction of VI in the 1950s that appeared on the first page of the VI Reunion Invitation. A color image of this print can be seen on-line at www.VIGrads.com. Please take a few minutes to look at it. The original was painted by S.F. San Pedro, an artist well known for painting local scenes of the Upstate NY area. It was commissioned by Geraldine Stephan Walsh, VI Class of 1956. Geraldine is the owner of Art Associates Gallery in Albany and has a large supply of colored prints of this beautiful painting. We are delighted that Gerri has generously offered these prints to members of our class at a reduced purchase price of $20 each. These prints will be available for purchase at the reunion dinner and will be packaged in tubes for easy transport. The prints are 14 I/2” x 23” and are ready for matting and framing. There will be a matted and framed print on display for your viewing. What a wonderful memento of the days at VI!

If you have any questions about the prints, you can contact Mary Anne Harrison Styczynski by e-mail at: january12866@netzero.net or by phone at 518-581-0682.

REUNION UPDATE FOR VI

We’ve had a positive response so far for our 50th Reunion, but have not heard from
some of YOU as yet. We would really like to see you! To help us expedite our planning process, please let us know as soon as possible if you are planning to attend the reunion.
Lost your invitation? We’ll be glad to send you another. You can e-mail your
response to John Soffey at: jesoffey@aol.com or mail it to:
61 Melrose Ave, Albany, NY 12203.

WHAT I’VE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 50 YEARS

Dave Collins, VI ’59, has volunteered to create and manage an area of the VI website where VI classmates can enter info about their lives after VI by sending him a current photo, contact info, and any other information that one would like to share. As this data gets accumulated, it can be loaded onto our website for others to view and contact classmates that have not been seen for two generations. Please enter your name and address on the reverse side of the picture, along with the names of the people in the picture and your e-mail address, if available. Digital photos are the preferred medium if possible. We welcome your participation in this effort.

Dave can be contacted at: davecollins@roadrunner.com or by phone at: 518-791-0188. Dave’s home address is: 50 Wincoma Lane, Queensbury, NY 12804.

HOLY NAMES AND CBA

Whether you are coming or not, and we hope you are, we ask Academy of Holy Names graduates
to send a biography of their lives since 1959 to Margie Reilly at the Academy of the Holy Names, 1073 New Scotland Road, Albany, NY, 12208 or e-mail Margie at: mreilly@ahns.org.

In addition, we are asking CBA graduates to send their information to Ken Toomey,
181 Colonial Ave., Albany, NY, 12208 or e-mail to: cattoom@yahoo.com.

The CBA Schedule/Return Form is also enclosed to the CBA Alumni.

Name Tags Project

We are looking for someone to make up name tags for the VI reunion attendees. This would entail using pictures from the 1959 yearbook of our classmates who have made the commitment to attend. We will furnish the yearbook and the name of each attendee
as the reservations are received. Please contact John Soffey by e-mail or phone
(518-489-8717) if you are interested in being involved with this project.
